Rotary Dog Park is located between Van Wert Propane and the City of Van Wert Water Plant. This also encompasses the Reservoir Recreational Area.
The Van Wert Dog Park began as an idea from several local residents wanting to have a safe place to take their dogs to play and exercise. Soon a committee was formed with the members: Jan Spray, Bitsy Clark, Sarah Robeson, Marcia Ross and Ryan Spray. The committee first had to decide on a location and have the City Administration on board for the project. After several discussions and location prospects, Rotary Park was selected to construct the Dog Park. The Dog Park Committee solicited for donations from the community in order to make the park a reality. Once funds were collected the park was built with a fenced in area for Large Dogs and Small Dogs, dog waste container and watering area. Grand opening for the Dog Park took place Saturday March 31st along with the annual Dog Bone Hunt held at Easter. Bring your furry friend and enjoy a safe environment of play and exercise.
The next planned addition is a Plaque with all donors to be installed on the north side of the Pavilion in the park. Plaque will be from Delphos Granite Works located in Van Wert.
