Seasonal Maintenance Job Description
Parks Seasonal Maintenance Employees will be required, but not limited, to perform tasks such as: Cleaning of park facility restrooms, mowing and trimming of park and city grounds, pulling weeds, raking, mulching, assisting in the beautification of parks and city flower beds, painting, trash removal and pick up litter, cleaning of pavilions, and perform office janitorial duties; dusting, mopping floors, clean windows etc.
Employees will also assist Park Employees in fence repairs, ball field preparation and any other maintenance related tasks.
The employee must occasionally lift and or move 70 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, that participant occasionally works in wet, humid and cold outdoor weather conditions.
Requirement: Possess Valid Driver’s License

Employees will be utilizing various power tools on the job site including but not limited to: Drill, Gas String Trimmer, Power Washer, Gas Blower and Mowers. Various hand tools will be utilized.
Safety at the Job Site
The City of Van Wert takes the safety of all employees very serious. An employee will occasionally be exposed to chemicals such as cleaning agents. All required safety equipment such as gloves, safety glasses etc. will be provided to the employee along with the training required to utilize such chemicals. All employees will be instructed on the correct and safe handling of all tools and equipment.
The proper attire for all seasonal and part time maintenance employees is long pants, shirt (short or long sleeve) and work boots. All pants are to be eliminated of holes and tears. When available a park shirt will be provided. If a park shirt is not available the shirt must be free of any alcohol, tobacco or drug slogans.
Work hours will be Monday-Friday 7:30am-4pm. Employee will be assigned for work on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer. Weekends are required during high peak times.
