Franklin Park

The site once known as Franklin Elementary or Fourth Ward School has been transformed into a public park. The NEW Franklin Park has become a reality through the support of the Van Wert County Foundation, Scott & Nikki Niswonger and the City of Van Wert Parks & Recreation Department.

The newest addition to our Parks System, Franklin Park  is located at the corners of South Walnut Street, Greenwald  and  Frothingham Street. Nestled in the middle of a residential area on the East side of town.

Layout Drawing of Franklin Park and it's Features

The construction of the new Van Wert neighborhood park began in the Spring of 2016. Franklin Park was built on the site where the former Franklin Elementary School once stood. The parks design is filled with two age appropriate playgrounds, walking path, basketball court, pickleball courts and a shelter house. The park also includes skateboard park, splash pad and is enhanced with open space, landscaping and signage that completes the entire design of the park.
