DESCRIPTION:October Events \nProject Closure for Burt Street – October 13th Burt Street will be closed for Railroad work.  This will be a hard road closure\, no traffic will be able to cross the tracks while the work is being done. The street should be back open on Saturday morning for everyone. \nVan Wert County Historical Society – The annual chicken dinner fundraiser event will be October 10\, 2026 beginning 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  The street closure is Third Street from the East end of the parking lot to N. Washington Street. \nVan Wert Freedom Cruise – The event is Saturday\, October 10\, 2026 beginning at 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  The street closure will be S. Jefferson St.\, from Main St.\, to Central Ave. \nFirst United Methodist Church – The Trunk or Treat event is Saturday\, October 31\, 2026 beginning at 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The street closure will be W. Central Ave.\, between Jefferson St.\, and Washington St.\, also the North row of parking spots of the parking lot North of Town Creek. \nVan Wert Trick or Treat – The event is Saturday\, October 31\, 2026 beginning at 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:2023 Brush Pick Up  \nThe City will begin the brush pickup program for 2023 on Monday\, May 8\, 2023. \nPlease have your brush out by 7:00 a.m. on the following days: \nMonday\, May 8\, 2023  \nMonday\, July 10\, 2023 \nMonday\, September 18\, 2023  \nPlace the brush by the curb and do not place it near poles\, trees\, etc. \n\nThe City will not pick up limbs larger than four (4) inches in diameter or more than (10) feet long.\nThe City will not pick up brush that has been left behind by a professional tree trimmer or private contractor.\nBrush placed in bags or boxes will not be picked up.\nThe City will not be picking up leaves during brush pick up.\n\n*If a homeowner utilized a trimming service\, they are responsible for disposing of the tree.
