DESCRIPTION:The Civil Service Commission of the City of Van Wert\, Ohio\, will hold a competitive examination to create an eligibility list for the appointment of a Firefighter to the City Fire Department of Van Wert\, Ohio\, on Saturday\, June 8\, 2024 at 9 o’clock A.M. in the Council Chambers located in the Municipal Building at 515 East Main Street\, Van Wert\, Ohio.  The front door will open at 8:00 o’clock A.M. \nAll Persons wishing to take this examination must file an Application with the City Fire Department\, City Building\, 515 East Main Street\, Van Wert\, Ohio on or before 3:00 o’clock P.M.\, Friday\, May 24\, 2024. \nApplication packets will be available on Monday\, May 6\, 2024 at the Fire Department’s Watch Room\, (first floor) in the Van Wert City Building during or after business hours. \nThe following are the requirements in the order to sit for the Examination: \n\nApplicant must be at least Eighteen (18) years of age by the date of the Examination;\nApplicant must be less than Forty-three (43) years of age at the date of the Examination.  (Applicant cannot be appointed to a position on or after 43rd birthday)\nApplicant must be a United States citizen or possess a valid permanent resident card.\nApplicant must have earned a high school degree or GED\nApplicant must possess a valid Driver’s License.\n\n
