The Van
Wert City Parks Department offers several services to the public as well as
organized activities that contribute to the quality of life of the citizens of Van Wert.
Pavilions
All pavilions in
the park system are available to families, businesses, and community groups on a
reservation and rental basis. Call the park Office (419) 238-9121 reserve
a pavilion for your family reunion, wedding or company picnic.
Ohio Amusement Park
Tickets
Planning on a
family or group outing to Cedar Point or Kings Island? Tickets can be purchased ahead of
time at the Parks Department during the summer, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Also available are The Beach and World of Adventure (formerly Six Flags Ohio and Sea
World) tickets.
Public Boating &
Fishing
Public boating and
fishing is available at various sites. The Reservoir Recreation Area offers boating and
fishing and Smiley Park has fishing only at the park pond.
Anyone 16 and older must have a current fishing license to fish. Boat
permits are required for the Reservoir Recreation Area. They can be purchased at the
Jubilee Park Office Monday through Friday at $7.50 for two years.
Picnic Kits
Park
equipment is available on weekends for family reunions or group gatherings. These kits
offer the use of footballs, basketballs, volleyballs, shuffleboard, and horseshoes.
Such equipment can add enjoyment to a park outing, enhancing memories of that special
family gathering.
